Q. How does this pill crusher work better than other crushers?

A. There are several things that make this pill crusher work better.
1. The mechanical advantage is higher than all other crushers on the market and comparison force tests have shown that only 1/3 of the force is needed to crush the hardest pill when using our crusher.
2. A spring located under the lower anvil serves two purposes, it allows the lower anvil to rotate as it is pushed down, thus giving a grinding action to the pill as it is being crushed; this spring also dampens all vibration that results when the pill is crushed, vibration has been associated with carpal tunnel syndrome.
3. One or both of the crushing surfaces (depending on the model) are serrated for a more effective/thorough crushing action.

Q. Is cross contamination a problem with this pill crusher?

A. Because the pills are crushed between two pill cups or in pill crushing pouches, there is no danger of cross contamination.

Q. What is the warranty on the manual crushers?

A. Lifetime on parts and workmanship.

Q. Does the crusher require any ongoing care or maintenance?

A. Under heavy use such as in an institutional setting, the crusher pins may require an occasional drop of oil on the pins.

Q. Cups, where are they available and what is the cost?

A. Paper and plastic cups are available at most drug stores and pharmacies and cost about $2.00 per 100

A. Yes, plastic pouches work quite well with this pill crusher.

Q. What type of material is the crusher made from, and does it have any special finish to prevent rusting?

A. The pill crusher parts are machined from non rusting aircraft aluminum and the parts then anodized to give them a very hard finish and a nice color. The pins and screws are made from hardened steel and are clear coated to prevent any rusting.

Q. How is this pill crusher more ergonomic than others?

A. Several ergonomic features are built into this pill crusher:
1. The handle is at a right angle to the crusher and this keeps the wrist and arm in a neutral position during the crushing motion.
2. The crusher has a very high mechanical advantage so very little energy is needed to crush even the hardest pills.
3. A spring backed lower anvil eliminates any vibration that occurs when the pill shatters.

A. Yes, depending on the size of course.

Q. Does the pill crusher come in different colors?

A. Yes it does, the institutional model is blue and the smaller home model comes in black and purple and combinations of those colors.

Q. What is the difference between the big and the small pill crusher?

A. The crushers operate in the exact same way; the smaller model has just been scaled down in size. It still uses the same size med cup, has the same mechanical advantage and crushes just as well.
